Night 1 – Vietri sul Mare
We flew into Naples and took a car service (organized by our Airbnb host) straight to our accommodation in Vietri sul Mare. Our group of six paid about $4,500 USD for an eight-night stay — the house was beautiful!
We chose Vietri sul Mare because it was the most affordable Airbnb we could find for our dates in peak summer, conveniently located next to the train station and not too far from the ferry port. That said, most of our day trips still took 1–3 hours of travel each way, which was a bit of a bummer. But we had each other's company and plenty of time to enjoy books on the train and soak up the stunning ferry views. If I were to replan, I’d probably pay more to stay in Sorrento for easier access to the rest of the coast.
Our first night, we wandered into town to explore. Vietri sul Mare is charming and peaceful, famous for its colorful ceramics — you’ll see them decorating storefronts, walls, and street signs. The perfect place to shop for gifts for loved ones or yourself!
Dinner – Ristoarte Da Nando
Our first meal ended up being one of my favorites of the entire trip. I ordered gluten-free spaghetti with lobster 🍝🦞 and it was incredible. After dinner, we grabbed gelato next door at Dolcefreddo - this kicked off my tradition of ending every day with gelato on this vacation ;)
Day 1 – Sorrento
Getting There: We took the train from Vietri sul Mare to Sorrento, with a transfer in Pompei (about a one-mile walk between the two stations and boyyy did we get used to this walk). From Sorrento’s train station, we walked to The Foreigners Club for lunch, then took a taxi toward Bagni Regina Giovanna beach.
Lunch – The Foreigners Club
The restaurant is just a short walk from the train station, with stunning sea views and many photo ops along the way. The terrace overlooks the water and offers plenty of beautiful seating spots. This is a stunning spot for Instagram pics!
I ordered gnocchi and a shrimp salad — both were delicious — and they even brought me a gluten-free bread roll after I mentioned my allergy. Gluten-free calamari was also on the menu (yes, we ordered that too) Between the 10/10 service, views, and food, I’d recommend this spot in a heartbeat!
Bagni Regina Giovanna
This hidden-gem beach is just outside Sorrento. Have your taxi drop you at Via Capo, then follow the walking path down towards the water. You can walk in one direction down stairs to the swimming area or around the corner to lay on the rocks and soak in the sun and views. We picked up towels at a convenient store on our way over to lay on.
The natural swimming area is surrounded by cliffs and has incredible photo opportunities. That said, it gets crowded, and it’s mostly rocky — we struggled to find a place to sit on that side. I highly recommend arriving early and bringing water shoes if you plan to swim. I learned the hard way after slicing up my stomach and legs trying to climb onto the rocks from the ocean :’) Lot’s of fun cliff jumping here too if you are feeling adventurous!
Dinner – Café Latino Ristorante Pizzeria Lounge Bar
We ended our day with dinner at this cute, garden-style restaurant. My gluten-free pizza was not great, but my friends loved their meals. The atmosphere made it worth the visit!
Day 2 – Capri
Getting There:We took the train from Vietri sul Mare to Naples, grabbed a taxi to the ferry port, and then hopped on a ferry to Capri. The journey itself was beautiful, and arriving by boat really makes you feel like you’re stepping into a postcard!!
Lunch – L’Isola dei Sapori (Capri – Mediterranean)
Before starting our boat tour, we enjoyed a long, leisurely lunch right on the water. We didn’t plan this meal ahead, just spontaneously walked to one of the first spots we found by the dock. I ordered a cheesy zucchini pasta that was hands-down one of the best pasta dishes I’ve ever had (the type A traveler in me is screaming). My friends ordered giant cocktails served actual lemons 🍋 which were both refreshing and Instagram-worthy.
The staff here was incredibly kind, and the whole experience was so relaxing that we barely noticed the time pass while waiting to board our boat.
Viator Boat Tour
Whenever I travel abroad, I always check Viator for my excursions and this one did not disappoint!. We booked a boat ride around the island, soaking up views of Capri’s famous cliffs, caves, and sparkling blue waters. Book here
Exploring
After our tour, we took the bus up to Capri Town to explore. The vibe here is pure luxury — think Rodeo Drive, but with Euro ocean views. Designer shops line the streets and even if you’re not buying anything, it’s worth a stroll for the people-watching and ocean views alone.
We even stumbled into a wedding in one of the town’s squares — it felt like a scene from a movie!
We explored, shopped and ate around Capri for the rest of the afternoon and these were my highlighted bites:
Pizza Near the Ferry Port – I grabbed a gluten-free pizza before heading back and it hit the spot before the long ride home
BGA in Piazzetta – This French-inspired café had gluten-free lemon and chocolate cakes on display. When I asked which was more popular, the staff insisted I try the lemon… and it did not disappoint!
Gelato Across from Prada - they had gluten-free cones!
Day 3 – Positano
Getting There:We took the ferry from Vietri sul Mare to Positano — and the views were surprisingly a trip highlight. It’s by far my favorite way to travel along the Amalfi Coast.
Beach Day at L’Incanto Beach Club
For €37.50 per person, we booked lounge chairs at L’Incanto Beach Club. Along with our chairs, the price included access to:
Spacious, clean bathrooms
Large changing rooms
A few beach bars
Phone chargers in the restaurant and bar area
I ordered lunch at the restaurant next door, while my friends had pizzas delivered right to their lounge chairs — the ultimate beach-day luxury (but not gluten free inclusive).
Lunch – Restaurant L’Incanto (Italian)
Restaurant L’Incanto is known for its panoramic views of the Amalfi Coast, making it the perfect spot to enjoy fresh seafood and pasta while taking in the iconic Positano cliffside. My lunch here was delicious and the atmosphere couldn’t be beat! I enjoyed my pasta with my book but found myself preferring to people watch more than read!
Shopping in Town
Around 3:00 PM, we headed up into Positano’s charming streets for some shopping. The walk is steep but full of beautiful shops at every turn. The star of the show was CB by Kore - a store I found on TikTok that I knew I had to visit.
I ended up spending €146 on two bags for myself and one for my sister. Prices range from €10 to €100 for bags, with dresses run higher. This trip was a little over 2 years ago (July 2023) from when I am publishing this post and I still use these bags every single week! Such a great investment. If I make it back to Positano I will absolutely be buying more items for myself and to have for gifts
Everything is handmade and unique — no two pieces are exactly the same. The style reminded me of a more mature Vera Bradley with a coastal Italian twist. I highly recommend making a stop here. The makeup pouches are my dream gift to my future bridesmaids to fill with goodies one day!
Day 4 – 8-Hour Boat Ride Around the Amalfi Coast
Getting There:We took the train from Vietri sul Mare to Sorrento, where our Viator tour had arranged for a driver to meet us right at the station. It was easy to find them, and we didn’t wait long before heading off. From there, it was a scenic 40-minute drive down to the port to meet our driver
We had the best time on this tour & it took up the whole day and of course - we booked it with Viator! Check out the description for the full breakdown of a full day on the water and some exploring on land! ! Book here
We had time to explore Amalfi and enjoyed some treats and lunch. After the tour we went home, made some food for a quick lazy dinner, and went to sleep.
Day 5 – Ischia
Getting There:We took the train to Naples, grabbed a taxi to the ferry port, and hopped on a ferry to Ischia. The round trip was only €35 per person — an incredible deal for one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been.
Booking was a little tricky — I had to do a bank transfer ahead of time to reserve our spots. There was an option to call 2–3 days before, but I wanted the peace of mind of booking in advance.
Hotel Club Scannella – Beach Day
From the ferry port, take a taxi to Via Scannella 1, then walk down from the large hotel to reach Hotel Club Scannella. The walk is steep (and brutal in the summer heat), but the views are soooo incredible — truly something out of a movie.
The beach club itself was gorgeous - straight off my Pinterest, with crystal-clear water and an incredible cliffside setting. Unfortunately, because the last ferry left at 4:30 PM, our day here felt too short. Next time, I’d spend a few days on Ischia to enjoy the beauty of this island
Food-wise, I ordered the grilled fish and veggies, but next time I’d go for the pasta — it looked amazing. I also loved the affogato! This might be one of the most beautiful places I have dined in - I could try to keep convincing you but the photos show everything you need to know.
We took a taxi back to the ferry to head home.
Day 6 – Vietri sul Mare & Vico Equense
We started our morning in Vietri sul Mare with coffee at Bar Miramare, where I had a delicious hazelnut coffee - served in cocktail glass. Nutella is huge here — one night, Alexa ordered a Nutella gelato that was so rich we’re still convinced it was just frozen Nutella.
We took the scenic route down to the beach, passing ocean views, dramatic cliffs, and colorful beach clubs along the way. This walk is one of my favorite memories from the trip and happened to be where I captured some of the most beautiful photos along the coast.
Vietri Beach Club
For €15 per person, we got lounge chairs, umbrellas, and access to bathrooms, showers, changing rooms, and a restaurant - seriously such a steal for equal beauty to the most popular, but equally beautiful cities. I spent part of the morning searching for sea glass along the shore and the rest soaking up the sun in my lounge chair or the waves.
Lunch at Rosa dei Venti
We had a yummy meal with a gorgeous view at Rosa dei Venti. We had no wait and gorgeous views with no crowds - so amazing!
Penisola Experience – Cooking Class in Vico Equense
We arrived in Vico Equense early for our sunset cooking class and discovered a stunning park right next to our class location, with views overlooking the city and ocean.
The class itself was hosted by the most warm, welcoming family. Their home was beautiful, the atmosphere was warm & lively, and the food absolutely delicious — especially the eggplant parmigiana.
While I have a gluten allergy, I decided to risk it all (strategically planning a beach club lazy day the next day in case I was struggling) I ate everything here since the ingredients were so fresh and I’d heard from friends with celiac disease that they have no issues eating gluten in Italy. I was so happy to find that I felt 100% okay after this meal! It was the only time I had gluten the whole trip and now 2 years later I still have not tried it anywhere else. I cannot guarantee this would be the case for everyone gluten free but in my case, fresh glutinous ingredients processed in Italy were okay for me!

Day 7 – Positano (Arienzo Beach Club)
Getting There:We took the ferry from Vietri sul Mare to Positano, then boarded the complimentary boat transfer from the port to Arienzo Beach Club. Check in at the orange Arienzo tent, where they’ll give you a sticker and direct you to the boats.
The club is open from 10 AM to 6 PM — we arrived around 11:30, and by 5:00 the beach was nearly empty, which made for perfect, crowd-free photos.
Arienzo Beach Club
We wanted our last day to be pure luxe relaxation, so we splurged on the Deluxe Experience (€211 / $211 USD per person). This included:
3 welcome bottles of champagne 🍾
Live music 🎷 & a DJ
Attentive beachside service
Complimentary gift upon arrival (the cutest little evian facial sprays - linked here)
1 sunbed with a comfy mattress
1 umbrella (per every two sunbeds)
1 towel
1 bottle of water (50cl)
Starter, main course & bruschetta
It was one of the most expensive days of our trip — and absolutely worth every penny. When we got back to Vietri sul Mare we had a casual night in, circled around reminiscing on the beautiful trip and finishing packing for an early flight the next day!

Helpful Things to Know Before Your Trip
Public bathrooms usually cost €0.50–€1, so always keep coins handy.
Tipping isn’t mandatory or expected, but many restaurants charge a small cover fee.
Pizza here is not pre-cut — and no, there’s no ranch dressing!
City tax applies to most Airbnb and hotel stays.
Most beach clubs don’t provide towels — we bought some for €5 each and were glad to have them, especially at Bagni Regina Giovanna where it’s all rocks.
You’ll pay for water by the bottle and will always be asked: still or sparkling?
Some markets and smaller cafés are cash-only (same with public bathrooms), but otherwise my Visa card worked everywhere.
Book excursions in advance — the best tours and boat rides fill up quickly.
We didn’t make any dinner reservations and still found places to eat, but in busier, tourist-heavy areas it’s safer to reserve ahead.
Trains sometimes run on “European time” — expect delays. Not all stations have bathrooms (Vico Equense didn’t) - If you have a medical condition like I do (colitis), know that even with a medical restroom card, restaurants may still refuse you. Always know the nearest public bathroom and carry coins.
